Standard, deluxe or trailer: picking for a Norridge job
Norridge jobs come in three sizes and each points to a different unit. The regional shopping center at Harlem and Irving Park and the smaller retail strips along Cumberland and Lawrence produce parking lot repaves, roof replacements and tenant buildouts, and those crews take standard units inside a fenced staging corner. Homeowners on the brick ranch blocks doing a kitchen extension or a garage rebuild want the deluxe flushing model on the driveway. And the village's summer events at the park district fields and the occasional big backyard graduation party bring requests for an ADA accessible unit or, for a tented reception, the climate-controlled luxury trailer.
Because Norridge lots are wider than Chicago lots on either side of the village line, driveway placement is far more common here than alley delivery.
Village rules in a city setting
A site in Norridge answers to village hall, not to CDOT, even though the streets a block away are Chicago's. That matters for anything placed on a parkway or street, which the village reviews on its own terms, so we ask contractors to check with the village before planning a public-way placement. Private lots, driveways and fenced commercial staging areas do not raise the question, and that is where nearly all Norridge units go.
Delivery timing around the mall
The shopping center draws steady traffic to Harlem and Irving Park from mid-morning on, so our driver schedules deliveries there for before nine or after the evening peak, coming in from Cumberland or Montrose to skip the busiest intersection. Residential drops follow the school schedule at the village's high school and the parochial schools, with most landing between nine and two. Weekly service runs on the Northwest loop with Harwood Heights and Norwood Park, which are minutes away.
Winter wind across the open lots near the shopping center is enough to tip an unweighted unit, so everything on pavement there gets staked or ballasted.
